Ansted man arrested on child neglect charges
An Ansted man has been arrested on child neglect allegations, according to a press release from Sheriff Mike Fridley.
Last month, the Fayette County Sheriff's Department received information that a juvenile may have been using drugs with his father in the Ansted area, Fridley said.
Further investigation indicates that the father of the juvenile, Steven Matthew Hawver, 38, of Ansted, had provided him with marijuana and methamphetamines on more than one occasion. The investigation also shows that Hawver used the drugs with the juvenile as well.
According to Fridley, the juvenile has since been placed in the custody with other family members.
Hawver was charged with two felony counts of Gross Neglect of a Child Creating a Substantial Risk of Death or Serious Bodily Injury. Warrants for his arrest were executed in Putnam County and his bond was set at $10,000 by the Putnam County Magistrate’s Office. Assistance was provided in the investigation by the Just For Kids Center and Child Protective Services.
