The Town of Fayetteville will host an open house regarding the update of the town's current zoning ordinance. The meeting will take place at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, May 28 at the Fayetteville American Legion, located at 205 Maple Avenue W, Fayetteville. Following the 7 p.m. presentation, a session allowing questions and answers is scheduled.

Fayetteville seeks to update the zoning ordinance as a way to implement the Fayetteville Comprehensive Plan that was adopted in 2014. The current zoning ordinance was adopted in 1974 with various amendments throughout the years. During the comprehensive plan process, the need for updated zoning was identified to accommodate additional multi-family housing, provide for two distinct commercial districts, and updated parking requirements.

Those attending the meeting will learn about the changes to the zoning ordinance text and map. Participants will be given the opportunity to express their opinions.

The updated zoning ordinance includes a comprehensive list of definitions, comprehensive supplemental regulations, and improved sign regulations.
