For the Wildcats, Kristen Redden had seven kills and four aces, Cayli Bolen had five kills and five aces, Connie Callison had seven kills, and Sarah Moody registered 21 assists.

In the Region 3 final, the Wildcats lost to Greater Beckley Christian 25-21, 25-11, 25-9.

To nail down its state tournament berth, Meadow Bridge had earlier defeated Mercer Christian 32-30, 25-16, 25-20.

“We were getting tired there toward the end,” second-year Meadow Bridge coach Tim Goode told The Register-Herald after the GBC matchup. “And a little frustrated.”

“I’m just proud of this bunch,” Goode added. “They are a good bunch of kids. The team’s grade-point average is 3.85. They’re scholar-athletes. They are an amazing bunch to work with.”
