The Midland Trail and Valley girls continued their strong play in middle school basketball circles in recent days. Following is a review of games for which information was made available to The Fayette Tribune:
Midland Trail 29
Ava Campbell tallied 11 points to help lift the Patriot girls past Glenwood on Tuesday, Jan. 10.
Also providing offense for Midland Trail were: Raygen Parsons, 9; Rachel Pritt, 5; and Whitney Bibb, 4.
For Glenwood, scorers were: Honaker, 7; Basile, 3; Steele, 3; and Addair, 2.
Summers County 28
The Greyhound girls defeated host Summers County by 10 points on Jan. 9.
Raelyn Morris bucketed 21 points to pace the Valley attack. Other point-producers were: Hayleigh Newman, 2; Hadassah Hamm, 9; Miranda Stover, 1; Emily Toney, 3; and Brayleigh Coping, 2.
Summers scorers were: Ellie Meadows, 6; Carly Persinger, 7; Kenleigh Ellison, 6; and Kamri Jones, 9.
Midland Trail 41
On Jan. 8, the Patriots notched another digit in the win column with the convincing verdict over the Lumberjacks.
Raygen Parsons and Rachel Pritt scored nine points apiece for Midland Trail. Others in the scoring column included: Ward, 8; Ava Campbell, 6; Madison Rader, 4; Whitney Bibb, 2; Calloway, 2; and Jessi Mooney, 1.
Richwood: Shaver 4, Williams 2, Moore 2, Marlowe 2, Adkins 2, Madison 1.
In the junior varsity contest, Trail posted a 44-6 decision.
MT coring was as follows: Parcell, 16; Walker, 16; R. Harrell, 4; Ewing, 2; Crist, 2; S. Harrell, 2; and Spencer, 2.
Richwood scorers were: Cunningham, 2; Metz, 2; and Marlowe, 2.
Meadow Bridge 8
Led by 15 points from Raelyn Morris, Valley cruised past the Meadow Bridge girls on Jan. 5.
Hayleigh Newman supplied eight points, and Miranda Stover (10 rebounds) and Hadassah Hamm had six points each. Other Valley scorers were: Sakiah Hutchinson, 3; Riley Price, 2; Emily Toney, 2; and Brayleigh Coping, 1.
Laycee Conway netted six for Meadow Bridge, and Kyndal Gilkeson chipped in two.
