Oak Hill 3

A four-run fifth inning proved to be the difference Wednesday as the visiting Patriots got by the Red Devils.

Michael McKinney, Atticus Goodson and Hunter Schoolcraft supplied two hits apiece for Independence.

Zane Wolfe, Jonathan Lyons and Logan Lawhorn provided two hits each for the Red Devils, and Lawhorn drove in a run. Lane Jordan, Preston Legg and Caleb Jones added a hit apiece.

Oak Hill's Bradley Lokant struck out six and scattered seven hits in 4 1/3 innings on the mound. Jordan fanned two in relief.

Oak Hill (4-5) hosts Princeton at 6 p.m. Thursday before traveling to Westside Friday at 6 p.m. The Red Devils entertain Fayetteville and Midland Trail Saturday beginning at noon.

Wyoming East 3

Oak Hill evened its record at 4-4 Tuesday with the home win over the Warriors.

The Red Devils scored in every inning in which they sent a batter to the plate en route to the triumph.

Leading Oak Hill's 12-hit attack were Jonathan Lyons (2-for-3, four RBIs), Tyreece Nelson (2-for-4, home run, three RBIs) and Lane Jordan (2-for-4, double, three RBIs). Also, Logan Lawhorn belted a double and knocked in a run, and Preston Legg had one RBI.

For Wyoming East, Dylan Repass logged a two-bagger and one RBI, Chris Harvey had a double, and Matt Caldwell and Chase York drove in single runs.

Caleb Jones was the winning pitcher in relief of Nelson. In four innings, Jones yielded one hit and struck out six.

Fayetteville 2

An 11-run outburst in the third inning lifted visiting Charleston Catholic to a 14-2 conquest of Fayetteville on Tuesday.

Marc Spiegel and Matt Spiegel drove in two runs each for the Irish, and Marc Spiegel was the winning pitcher.

For Fayetteville, Logan Frantz was 1-for-1 with a double, an RBI and a run scored. Teammate Jordan Dempsey was 1-for-3, stole a base and scored a run.

Seth McCarraher was tagged with the pitching loss for FHS.

The Pirates will play at Oak Hill Saturday.

Oak Hill 15

Gilmer County 1

A 10-run uprising in the first inning propelled Oak Hill to a 15-1 victory over visiting Gilmer County Monday.

The Red Devils plated five more runs in the bottom of the fourth, and Gilmer County scored its lone run in the top of the fifth.

Zane Wolfe struck out seven and scattered six hits to earn the complete-game pitching verdict. At the plate, he went 3-for-4 with a triple and three RBIs.

Jonathan Lyons was 2-for-3 with a double for the Red Devils (3-4), and Lane Jordan was 2-for-3.

Joey Frame was 2-for-3 and knocked in the Titans’ run.

The Red Devils will host Princeton on Thursday before visiting Westside Friday. A Saturday doubleheader with Midland Trail and Fayetteville at Oak Hill begins at noon.

Travis Scarborough banged out four hits and drove in four runs and Nathan Hanshew stole three bases and scored three times as Midland Trail defeated visiting Summers County 7-6 Monday.

Colin Dempsey, Cy Persinger (RBI) and Peyton Sheaves (RBI) had two hits apiece for Trail.

Samuel Wykle was 2-for-4 with a run batted in for Summers. Tyler Miller and Chase Atkins also had RBIs for the Bobcats.

In earlier games, Midland Trail lost to James Monroe (12-2 and 11-3) and defeated Sherman (10-9), Westside (13-9) and Montcalm (18-3).

The Patriots (4-2) will entertain Clay County Friday and play Oak Hill and Fayetteville Saturday at Oak Hill.

For the Red Devils, Tyreece Nelson was 2-for-3 with a double, and Lane Jordan and Zane Wolfe had base hits.

Jordan struck out six and yielded four hits while being tagged with the loss.

On Saturday, the Skyhawks plated all five of their runs in the first three innings and withstood a four-run seventh inning by the Red Devils to nail down the victory.

Tyreece Nelson supplied a double and two RBIs for Oak Hill. Lane Jordan and Caleb Jones were both 2-for-4 with a double, Bradley Lokant was 2-for-3 and knocked in a run, and Zane Wolfe and Jonathan Lyons each had a single.

For Scott, Isaac Miller was 2-for-3, and Trent Short and Carter Lyles both belted a double and drove in two runs.

Lyles earned the mound decision, while Jones suffered the loss.
