Squaring off

Oak Hill High's Josh Jackson, left, and Fayetteville High's Sammy Pullens will square off in the ring at Saturday's Red Devil Rumble at Oak Hill High School.

They'll be mixing it up come Saturday night at the Lilly Center.

The Red Devil Rumble will be staged this Saturday, April 13 at Oak Hill High School.

The event will feature a good mix of professional and amateur boxing, MMA and kickboxing bouts.

Signal 12 Gym will coordinate the event, which will serve as a fundraiser for the Oak Hill High softball team for field upgrades and new uniforms.

Doors open at 6 p.m., and the first bout will begin at 7 p.m.

Among the matchups will be an amateur light heavyweight boxing match between Oak Hill High's Josh Jackson and Fayetteville High's Sammy Pullens. Both are 18-year-old seniors. According to Signal 12 Gym's Steve Neal, this will be the first boxing bout for either young man.

Among the other competitors slated to perform will be Maverick Perkins, James Williams, Coty Pierson, Zack Hardman and Noah Bates, Neal said.

Neal is the father of one of the OHHS softball players, Paige Neal, and he said he just wants to help out the program and hopefully be able to turn over a significant check at the end of the day. Neal also said numerous local businesses have stepped up as sponsors.

Tickets will be $20 for general admission. For reservations or tickets, call 304-640-1515.

Tickets can also be obtained from softball team members.
